Probably pouring the base for a high voltage transmission tower. These can end up in some very difficult areas. Even if it looks like it is wasteful the alternative is often bringing it in by heavy lift helicopters, which is ridiculously expensive! The guys who do this type of work can get pretty creative. They generally take the straightest route to get from A to B, but often, it is anything but easy.

We wet set expansion joints like that but use 1x material so you don’t have such a big hole to fill when you pull it. Pump guy needs to take it easy and let those board pullers catch up.
